Designed to provide fast and efficient service to downtown Boston, the $2.3 billion Green Line Extension (GLX) project will allow trains to operate every five to six minutes in peak periods. The project calls for six new Green Line stations along two branches, extending the Green Line 4 additional miles, and the relocation and reconstruction of Lechmere Station.

The major undertaking is expected to dramatically reduce vehicle trips and related air emissions, while increasing access to public transit service in underserved areas.  Work is on schedule to open for revenue service by December 2021.

According to the Mass.gov, the GLX project is expected to support increased ridership of more than 50,000 passenger trips per day, once completed. It will benefit the community in numerous ways, including a one-seat ride (no transfers) from the project corridor to downtown Boston.

The NEX® System is being utilized throughout the Green Line Extension project to monitor concrete temperature and for mass concrete specification compliance.
